At the end of the meal, Friulians are divided into two large groups: grappa lovers and those of bitters .

Also defined as "the elixir of long life ", amaro is one of the most loved and consumed spirits in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The recipes are varied and suitable for all palates, but they are all mixtures of drugs, aromatic herbs , medicinal roots and citrus fruits .
