Grappa

grappa

The queen of Friulian spirits

The first evidence of grappa production in Friuli Venezia Giulia is estimated to date back to the early 1400s.

At the end of the nineteenth century there were 219 distilleries in Udine alone.

Grappa is an integral part of Friulian culture , the recipes of the most famous companies have been handed down for generations and are bearers of centuries of experience and popular uses .

Friulian grappa is obtained by distilling the pomace of both white lead and red berries. The less common brandy , however, is obtained directly from the distillation of fresh grapes.
