Montasio DOP Mezzano , produced by Latteria d'Aviano , is a delicacy of Friuli Venezia Giulia . This DOP cheese takes its name from Monte Montasio, a region renowned for its dairy tradition. Latteria d'Aviano, located in the heart of Friuli, is passionately dedicated to the artisanal production of high quality cheeses, keeping a centuries-old tradition alive.

Montasio Mezzano, with a maturation that varies from 4 to 10 months , is characterized by a still elastic structure and a sweet flavor of medium intensity. The aromas recall cooked milk and butter, making this cheese ideal for a cold cuts and cheese platter. It is the main ingredient of the regional Friulian dish, frico , and pairs perfectly with dry, young red wines such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
