Merlot - Vendrame Vignis del Doge

Merlot Vendrame Vignis del Doge is a dry red wine from Friuli Venezia Giulia, with hints of cherry and wild herbs such as sage. This artisanal Merlot represents the tradition and passion of local winemakers, who have transformed this wine into an everyday excellence.

The first Merlot vines were imported from France and planted in Friuli at the end of the 19th century. Those of Vendrame Vignis del Doge were planted in the 1970s by the father of the current winemaker. Initially intended to be used as a blending wine, Vendrame Merlot has developed a unique character over time.

Cultivation takes place with the Double Guyot training system, with a density of approximately 4,700 vines per hectare and a yield of 90 q/ha. Perfect to pair with grilled steaks, meat marinated in Teriaki sauce, this Merlot best expresses its character when served at a temperature of 16-18°C.
